Ex- National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Response in Attempted Murder Case

One-time NFL player Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to address an murder attempt allegation related to a shooting that happened in May, with his counsel entering a not guilty response on his behalf.

Detention records in Essex County, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his relocation to Florida. Brown, a highly popular figures in the NFL, had forgone extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being arrested in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has previously filed a documented not guilty plea to the murder attempt charge. Brown could be in a Miami court as soon as Wednesday morning for a bond proceeding, Eiglarsh stated.

According to his detention order, Brown is alleged of taking a firearm from a safety employee after a star match contest in May and discharging two shots at a person he had confronted with earlier. The reported individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to investigators that one shot grazed his nape.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was obliged to take were solely in defense against the alleged person’s violent behavior. Brown was targeted that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself,” Eiglarsh stated.

Brown was not immediately apprehended because originally police did not consider Nantambu as a target. It wasn’t until later in May that Nantambu delivered a detailed account about the incident to officers and identified Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit indicates.

According to his social media updates, Brown had been living in Dubai for multiple period. In a post after the confrontation, Brown claimed he was protecting himself because he was “jumped by multiple individuals who attempted to take my valuables and inflict bodily damage to me.”

A level two attempted murder charge in Florida imposes a maximum fifteen-year jail sentence and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the instance of a finding.

Brown has encountered several judicial issues over the years. He earlier had been accused of battery of a truck driver, multiple abuse allegations, failure to pay child support and additional occurrences.

In a 2021 season match with the Buccaneers against the opponents, Brown removed his jersey, shoulder pads and gloves and left the field, causing his termination by the team and virtually concluding his professional tenure.

Brown, who spent twelve years in the league, was an All-Pro wide receiver who passed the majority of his tenure with Pittsburgh. For his professional life, Brown had nine hundred twenty-eight grabs for over twelve thousand two hundred ninety-one gains, the 28th most of all time. He was a multiple-time Pro Bowl selection.
