Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australian ODI Team to Face Team India
Labuschagne finds himself omitted from the three-game ODI series against India, as high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw receiving a unexpected inclusion.
Recent Form Lead to Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the ODI team following scoring just one run in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a highest score of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI batting appearances.
Labuschagne has featured in 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 runs at an batting average of 34.64, but will now focus on earning a Test team comeback in time for the Ashes beginning in Perth on 21 November.
Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Updates
Recent performances suggest of a return to form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw also hit a century for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his white-ball international debut in the forthcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.

“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be some management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the cricket season through Sheffield Shield cricket,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The majority of the T20 squad will stay as a group as it’s an crucial phase in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test matches ahead.”
Australia’s three-game ODI series against India starts on October 19 in Perth, before the rivals play five T20s from October 29.
