Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles

In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases already confirmed for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
